We’ll of course have so much more news to share as we quickly approach that date, especially when it comes to the immediate, very-obvious struggles for Tariq.

When it comes to Raising Kanan season 2, we are currently anticipating that the series will return to Starz in the summer of 2022; production is already underway and unless we get some last-minute update saying otherwise, we’re expecting that it is going to run for ten episodes once more.

This is really the sweet spot for a lot of different shows airing on Starz; there’s room to get into a lot of important subjects but at the same time, also a chance to keep anything from getting too bloated.

The exchange rate for a dollar to naira at Lagos Parallel Market (Black Market) for today, Monday, October 11, opened at N575.00 to a $1.

Please note that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel market (black market), as it has directed individuals who want to engage in Forex to approach their respective banks.

‘WHO’ Approves for Malaria Vaccine in Historic First for Global Health

The first vaccine for children at risk of malaria has been approved by the World Health Organization, according to a press release.

This groundbreaking achievement could save tens of thousands of children each year in sub-Saharan Africa alone, the primary risk zone for the parasitic disease that kills half a million people annually, half of whom are children.

The vaccine is the first of its kind to fight a disease caused by a parasite, according to the New York Times.

“We have long hoped for an effective malaria vaccine and now for the first time ever, we have such a vaccine recommended for widespread use.”

It’s designed to stop the deadliest of the five primary strains of malaria — P. falciparum and is the result of more than 30 years of research, development, and funding through a partnership between the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria; and Unitaid.

With viruses and bacterial infections, exposure allows a person to develop antibodies that help them fight future infections.

That’s not the case for parasites, which can infect people over and over again. In sub-Saharan Africa, individual children get around six malaria cases per year. Constantly battling malarial infections weakens a child’s immune system and leaves them exposed to other illnesses. 

“Developing a vaccine for a parasite is much different than developing one for a virus or bacteria.”

In 2019, there were an estimated 229 million cases of malaria and 409,000 deaths around the world. Of those cases and deaths, 94% occurred in Africa. 

The WHO recommends four doses of the vaccine over a period of more than 18 months for children under the age of 5 in moderate- to high-risk areas.

One study found that the vaccine could prevent 5.4 million cases of malaria and 23,000 deaths in children under the age of 5 annually. In combination with existing drugs and techniques to prevent and treat malaria, its efficacy rate increases.

New Suicide Squad Movie and Kill The Justice League’s King Sharks Are Polar Opposites

In the new James Gunn movie, King Shark is perhaps best described as a loveable oaf with a twinge of sadness, serving more often than not as comical relief. He demonstrates his lack of intellect several times by pretending to read a book upside down, when he tries to eat Ratcatcher-2, and by his general lack of vocabulary, but as Amanda Waller puts it, he’s the strongest member on the team.

His strength is great, and the combination allows King Shark to play off Ratcatcher, Bloodsport, and others quite well. It’s even quite sad when his “friends” betray and attack him in the water tank explosion, as well as when members of the Suicide Squad have to leave him behind because he’s a shark.

But, in the comics, a lot of fans say that August 10th is the “real” Spidey day because his first appearance is listed on that date. All of this gained even more steam on social media because of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Tom Holland’s last adventure in the MCU showed off his passport, which listed the big day as August 10th, 2001.

It’s a fun little detail that has exploded into its own day on the web. With all the clamoring for a trailer exploring what the heck is going on in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s easy to see why the character’s birthday is exploding this year. Still, it’s a good time, and people can dream of what this wild trailer for the multiversal adventure will look like.

Air passengers fleeced by ‘rogue operators’ as PCR tests fail to arrive

Air passengers to the UK have spent at least £500m on PCR Covid-19 tests from private companies since mid+May, a Guardian analysis has found, only for the NHS to be saddled with extra costs when firms fail to deliver them.

Concern is mounting that the system for testing travellers is on the brink of collapse, with Heathrow airport calling on Wednesday for the government to allow people to use cheaper lateral flow tests instead.

Travellers have reported having to call the NHS testing hotline on 119 for free taxpayer-funded kits after PCR tests they had paid for did not arrive.

“The government must also introduce robust accreditation for all test providers listed on its website, to prevent travellers being ripped off when trying to buy something as essential as a test.”

Mansfield, a senior lecturer of mathematics at the University of New South Wales Sydney, had suspected the tablet was real. He came across records of its excavation and began the hunt.

Word got around about what he was looking for, and then the email came. He knew what he had to do: travel to Turkey and examine it at the museum.

Hidden within this tablet is not only the oldest known display of applied geometry but a new ancient understanding of triangles. It could rewrite what we know about the history of mathematics, Mansfield argues.

“These findings were published Wednesday in the journal Foundations of Science.”

INVERSE

The way we understand trigonometry harks back to ancient Greek astronomers,” Mansfield tells Inverse.

“I like to think of the Babylonian understanding of right triangles as an unexpected prequel, which really is an independent story because the Babylonians weren’t using it to measure the stars, they were using it to measure the ground.”

Years before discovering this latest tablet, dubbed Si.427, Mansfield was hot on the trail of another ancient Babylonian “document:” Plimpton 322.

“While the location of this artifact was known (it’s located at Columbia University) its true purpose was not.”

INVERSE

Like Si.427, which dates back to roughly 1900 to 1600 BCE, Plimpton 322 is covered in geometric markings — riddles academics have tried to decipher for years.

While the reigning theory was that these markings were a kind of teacher’s cheat code for Babylonian homework problems, Mansfield and colleagues were not convinced.

The Looney Tunes have gone through a variety of adventures since their debut in 1930, but in 1996 they went through a one-of-a-kind adventure in space in Joe Pytka’s Space Jam.

The movie brought together two different worlds unlikely to cross paths in the real world: the Looney Tunes and professional basketball, this by having Michael Jordan leading the Tune Squad in a life-changing basketball game.

Bugs Bunny and company are understandably horrified when they see themselves in 3D form, but could this be a sneaky way from the writers of Space Jam 2 to criticize the use of CGI in recent years?

In an unexpected (and unprofessional) movie from Warner Bros., the studio didn’t credit the whole 2D animation team, and this issue was quickly pointed out by some of the animators, most notably Dave Alvarez.

In response to this, and in a failed attempt to make up for the “mistake”, Warner Bros. shared the names of the whole 2D animation crew and their “gratitude” to them via the official Space Jam 2 Twitter and Instagram accounts, which only drew more backlash.

Tom Hanks Auctioning Airstream Trailer, Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser, Tesla Model S P85D

Even movie stars need to declutter sometimes. Tom Hanks, for example, has decided he no longer needs his 1992 Airstream travel trailer, which has been a part of his movie-making experience since he bought it in 1993.

Hanks used the trailer on 18 movie sets over the decades, including Sleepless in Seattle and Forrest Gump in the ’90s to movies like The Circle in 2017.

“I got it in the days when movies moved slower,”

Four vehicles used by Tom Hanks will be auctioned off later this month at the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction, including his on-set Airstream trailer and the 2010 Ford F-450 Super Duty used to tow it, a customized 1980 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser, and Hanks’ personal 2015 Tesla Model S P85D.

Hanks used the Airstream trailer as a place to rest while shooting 18 movies between the 1990s and 2010s, including Forrest Gump and The Circle.

Hanks ordered the trailer as an upgrade to the standard on-set cast trailers, and it has a full-size sofa inside that had to be customized in order to fit through the door.

“Over the years, Hanks also added stickers to the windows showing which movie locations the trailer was used on.”
