How to Switch From Google Authenticator to Another 2FA App

IT’S NO SECRET that two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the best ways to keep your various digital accounts secure—that’s why everyone from Google to Microsoft to Apple to Twitter gives you 2FA as an option.

The “two factor” in the name refers to using a second code alongside your password to log in on a new device. This means that even if someone gets ahold of your username and password, they won’t be able to access your data.

That extra 2FA code is typically provided by an app on your phone, and a lot of us rely on Google Authenticator for Android and iOS. The app is simple and straightforward, comes from a well-known company, and gets the job done.

For the purposes of this guide, we’re going to show you how to make the jump from Google Authenticator to Twilio Authy (available for Android and iOS).

Authy runs on multiple accounts, offers desktop access support, prevents in-app screenshots, uses encrypted recovery backups, and more—it’s an excellent all-around 2FA app and very intuitive to use.

There’s nothing wrong with Google Authenticator, but more feature-rich alternatives are available, which is where this guide comes in.

The good news is that it’s possible to transfer all your 2FA login information to another app without getting locked out of your accounts along the way.

If you’re ready and determined to make the switch from Google Authenticator to Twilio Authy, you first need to make sure you’ve got both apps installed on your phone. Then you can begin switching your accounts over, one by one.

Remember that the codes you’re generating with Google Authenticator are key to gaining access to all of your digital accounts. If you lose access to those codes, you’re going to have to switch to a backup access method—in the case of Google accounts, that might mean entering one of the backup codes provided when you set up 2FA.

Fresh off the release of his new album Punk and a pair of Travis Barker-backed Saturday Night Live performances, Young Thug dropped by the Breakfast Club headquarters for an hour-long discussion that opened with a reflection on his previous issues with Charlamagne.

Asked what kept him “away from the Breakfast Club all these years,” Thug initially said he didn’t know before pointing to his and Charlamagne’s “misunderstanding.”

Nicki Minaj, husband face $20M default judgment after failing to respond to lawsuit

Minaj hired attorney Judd Burstein to attempt to request an extension to respond to the suit.

Burstein sent an email to Hough’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, to withdraw the petition for the $20 million default judgment and asked for more time for the couple to respond, according to The Daily Beast.

The plot thickens in Jennifer Hough’s lawsuit against Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty.

Minaj and Perry failed to respond to the suit and a request for a $20 million default judgment has been made as a result.

“I told him to prepare his opposition to my request for default judgment and explain to the court why his client and her husband believe they’re both above the law.”

Petty, who married the Grammy-winning rapper in 2019, was convicted of attempted first-degree attempted rape in 1995.

After alleged extensive attempts at bribery and subsequent threats after refusal, Hough filed suit against both Minaj and Petty, accusing the couple of “witness intimidation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, harassment, assault, battery, sexual assault, and sexual harassment,” as reported by Rolling Stone.

Lord Frost risks inflaming tensions as he calls on EU to revise Brexit agreement

The UK government is on course for a diplomatic collision with Brussels as Brexit minister Lord Frost warned it would be a “historic misjudgement” for the bloc not to rewrite key parts of the agreement.

When it comes to Raising Kanan season 2, we are currently anticipating that the series will return to Starz in the summer of 2022; production is already underway and unless we get some last-minute update saying otherwise, we’re expecting that it is going to run for ten episodes once more.

This is really the sweet spot for a lot of different shows airing on Starz; there’s room to get into a lot of important subjects but at the same time, also a chance to keep anything from getting too bloated.

There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home.

At the risk of stating the obvious, there are few, if any, looks that A$AP Rocky cannot pull off with aplomb. (Is it because he is insanely hot?

It’s not not that!) But there are a few times that the rapper has well and truly put together A Fit, like when he attended the Calvin Klein Fall 2018 runway in February of that year.

That little fashion history aside, let’s talk about A$AP Rocky! The man who regularly tops best-dressed lists — and who had just recently starred in a Calvin Klein campaign with A$AP Mob — arrived in a head-to-toe layered look from the brand.

I personally think the star is the oversized striped knit, but there are no losers in this outfit, from the color-blocked outerwear to the signature Calvin Klein white boots, which still look fresh several seasons out.

Rocky would go on to make a snow angel in the piles of popcorn, so for added authenticity on the cheap, feel free to stick a few popped kernels of corn to your knits. Stylish and a snack! Just like A$AP Rocky. Okay I’ll see myself out.
